Join Acme Ltd as a Traditional Blacksmith and work in a hands-on role crafting bespoke metalwork, restoration pieces and commissions. You will operate the forge daily, shape materials by hand, complete welding and finishing tasks, and liaise with clients and colleagues to deliver high-quality results. The role suits an experienced craftsperson who takes pride in detail, enjoys a varied workload and values traditional techniques alongside safe, modern workshop practice. You will be expected to manage your time effectively, maintain the workshop to a high standard and contribute positively to our collaborative studio culture.

Responsibilities

Create hand-forged metalwork using traditional blacksmithing methods in a busy workshop environment.

• Heat, shape and finish ferrous and non-ferrous metals at the forge.
• Interpret drawings, sketches and client briefs to produce bespoke pieces and restorations.
• Select and maintain appropriate tools, dies and anvils; keep the workspace and equipment clean and safe.
• Perform basic welding, riveting and finishing operations as required to complete assemblies.
• Estimate time and materials for jobs, and collaborate with colleagues to meet project schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of work, materials used and job progress.
• Advise clients on design, finish options and appropriate materials while maintaining professional communication.
• Contribute to a positive workshop culture by mentoring apprentices and sharing best practices.
